James Madison (10-13) at Towson (5-17)

GAME NOTES: A couple of Colonial Athletic Association teams anxious to get back to business hit the floor in Maryland tonight, as the Towson Tigers host the James Madison Dukes.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, this meeting had to be moved because of a massive snow storm that crippled the northeast corridor.

Both of these squads have struggled in conference play this season and at the moment the Tigers are a mere 2-10 versus the rest of the league. The Tigers have won just once in the last six outings, coming off a 97-55 blowout loss to Drexel on the road back on Tuesday.

As for the Dukes, currently 3-9 against the rest of the CAA, they last played on Wednesday night versus Hofstra at home and suffered a 68-48 setback, the second straight loss for the squad.

With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the Dukes own a 22-9 advantage after picking up a 69-66 win in the first meeting of this season.

Denzel Bowles and Julius Wells both scored 15 points for the Dukes last week when they faced Hofstra at home, but it was nowhere near enough as James Madison bowed by 20 points. Part of the problem was that the JMU offense logged just seven total field goals in the second half, shooting a feeble 1- of-11 behind the three-point line in the frame. The Dukes finished the outing a mere 2-of-16 on the perimeter and suffered 17 turnovers. Bowles leads this group in scoring through 23 games, even though he has played in only 15 of those, emerging with 20.6 ppg. A 58.4 percent shooter from the floor, Bowles adds 9.3 rpg and also paces the squad with 26 blocked shots. Also scoring in double figures for the group is Wells who is credited with another 16.8 ppg, doing much of his damage behind the three-point line where he has connected on 66 of his 187 attempts.

The Tigers could not contain Drexel last week as the Dragons erupted for 97 points in the rout that Towson could not escape. Isaiah Philmore delivered 12 points as the lone double-digit scorer for the visitors to the City of Brotherly Love. The squad not only shot just 38.5 percent from the field in the meeting, the Tigers also converted a mere 4-of-18 beyond the arc and 11- of-21 at the free-throw line. The effort by Philmore was somewhat unexpected, given that he is averaging just 5.6 ppg this season and is playing less than 20 minutes per contest. At the top of the scoring list for the Tigers are Calvin Lee and Josh Thornton who are both posting 11.6 ppg, but while the former is shooting a decent 43.5 percent from the field, the latter is hitting on a mere 37 percent of his attempts right now. Because of the blowout last week Towson's defense is now giving up 76.2 ppg, which means the squad is being outscored by 10 ppg.

The delay in this game probably won't make much of a difference, given that JMU still should have the edge and slip by with a narrow win just like in the first meeting.
